2012 Blog – Saturday 25th

Saturday came and went in a whirlwind of activity on site yet again. We have had the Iris stage erected by a top class team of marquee builders. We have handled the calls, e-mails and other sorts of technical messages we are now receiving.

We decided it was time to start installing the water mains,  because even we understand that sometimes you have to indulge in  a bit of h2o at least once in the weekend. We set off in search of the water stop cock, the first of which was some what easier to find than any other. We quickly worked out that the main supply had to come from the castle in some description. However after 700 years of pipes and stop cocks being laid by many a different manager we finally found two stopcocks 500 yards from the front of the castle
Hurdle two came in the form of a submerged stop cock, needless to say as sheep live in the field, no one was jumping around at the thought of sticking ones hand down the hole, well not without the appropriate health and safety assessment being carried out first. So with 4 black bin liners as gloves Greg went into the land of the unknown.
While Jim watched attentively at the other end for the first signs of water in the main field, he unfortunately didn’t get soaked. We have augured to the castle to seek more information and felt obliged to consume some of the local ale, to make new friends with local knowledge of the water supply.
UPDATE:-The plan to go to the castle has worked and we have been supplied with the appropriate fag packet drawing.
Tomorrow will see a whole load more action on site and as much as we would love to tell you all about it now,  dinner has just arrived.
Take care and have fun.
Kind Regards

2012 Blog – Friday 24th Sep

Well thank you for coming to Stormin’ The Castle and once again making it a weekend to remember. The event has been another success and now we only have the main marquees left to take down and have a beer of course!

No, we only jest. We have arrived on site in force today – well 4 of us. Poor Jim Coxon has been here since yesterday as the main marquee was marked out last night. Today the offices have arrived and been accurately placed with the aid of a bit of rope and line paint.

The first marquee was erected and will probably be one of the last to leave site, the caravans for the top brass have placed on site and been hooked up to the main grid, so the laptops mobiles and all the other fancy gadgets it takes 12 regular Joe’s  to organise Stormin’ can be plugged in and charged.
We have well and truly dragged ourself over to the magic world of World Wide Web this year, we have started our own Facebook page and joined Twitter as well as launching this new website so we can stay in touch with you 24/7.
Please don’t forget if you are having issues with missing tickets etc to give the postie the chance to deliver them, if you haven’t received them by midday on the 29th please feel free to give us a call on 0870 225 8352.
Look forward to seeing you all soon.
Kind Regards
Stormin’ The Castle Committee.
